2007-05-16 [moonscale]: I think there should be more contests for 3-D art type stuff and in more specific categories as well. Or contests should just be made to allow for some 3-d elements. I think some do, though they don't come out and say it. It would be nice to see more of it displayed.

2007-05-16 [Ocean Soul]: [Asrun] - It's soapstone. There are different kinds of soapstone, varying from hard to really soft. If you start, you should go for a very soft stone - it's going to be super easy to work with (in fact, long fingernails are almost good enough as a working tool then ;))! Though the normal tools are small files, rasp files and small sharp trimming knives or box cutters. For the final toush you can use sandpaper and rough cloth :)

2007-05-17 [Asrun]: Ocean Soul : I figured it had to be soapstone. I can't believe how smooth the skin is on that one! Thanks for the tips, I don't even think there's a supplier of soapstone in my area.. O_o; Probably some in Toronto. Is it expensive? I basically have the tools here already.

And when you start off you shouldn't think "Oh no, I have no knowledge!" you should rather think "Who cares how cryptic the result is, this is my first attempt at this!" and have FUN! Most of all, it's always about that :) Working with stone for example is just really great because you get the chance to feel what you are doing and how hard you are working!

2007-05-18 [Cia_mar]: there came a point in my life as an artist that 2D just wasnt enough... i mean i would draw this great portrait and my hands would just itch to be able to wrap around and feel the features i was drawing.. and the first time i got into clay , i was in love!!! i wish it was more available for me to work with... but 3D is very satisfying!!!!!

So, I guess one could say I need both her & her camera. lol For a Girl Scout International Day Event, I made a bull costume (needed 2 Girl Scouts), the cape for the bullfighter, a skirt, vest & hat as a Spanish girl attire (Spain was the country being represented, as one can probably guess.). I've also made some puppets (including a Lamb Chop puppet, which I crocheted using no pattern) & ceramic objects.  :P
